Biography
Since the age of three, this New York born Italian/French artist has traveled with her family until age 22 with the military, entertaining at local school events and performing for many military functions and local events. From the age of five she entertained military troops overseas and was a highlighted guest performer during Desert Storm. In 1985 she was honored by the Library of Congress for her poetry writing and was featured in the 1987 Who’s Who in poetry through the literary awareness foundation’s “Diamonds in the Rust” poetry edition. In 1988 she performed for many local Miss Florida Pageants and Preliminary Competitions where she was invited to perform during the Miss Florida Nationals in Tallahassee. Her appearance in the Miss Florida Nationals opened a door with Axel Weiss International in Europe and she traveled as a hair model promoting hair salon products and she was cast in the 1988 film of Longgone staring Virginia Madsen. In 1989, she held the title as Miss Leohman’s Plaza, Pinellas County wherein she was acknowledged for her Community Service including live performances, commercial recording and writing. In 1990, she attended and graduated from the Tampa Bay Dance Academy specializing in ballroom dance instruction and performance and was honored in International dancing. Following her dancing education she was given the opportunity to be cast in the HBO film, “Coupe de Ville” and In 1991, she attended and graduated from the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Academy in Acting performance for TV, Film and Television Commercials. In 1992 while studying theater at the University of South Florida, she was recognized by her peers as an honoree and given the opportunity to study in New York at the Julliard School of the Arts performing operatic works in German, Italian, French, Spanish and Latin. She became a member of the Florida Music Association in 1994 and performed with the Tampa “Master Chorale” ranging from contemporary gospel, Pop, Broadway and Chamber. In 1996 with the assistance of Michael Philips Casting, she presented as an LCI International Promo Girl sponsoring racer, Mark Martin.
Since 1996, she has been a Special Guest performer of “DJ. Doug’s Karaoke” shows in several bay area resorts and lounges, including but not limited to the Bilmar Beach Resort, Don CeSar, Thunderbird Resort, Ramada Inn of Treasure Island; Dukes Lounge, and Armels Restaurant, since 1995 ranging in various styles of music consisting of Pop/R&B, Country and Broadway tunes with special guest appearances at Weddings, charity functions (see below), bay area Modeling Pageants and bay area churches.
She was an Honorary Guest, By invitation of the Alpha Company of the United States Marine Corp in Twenty-Nine Palms, California, special guest entertainer for the U.S. Marine Corp Anniversary Ball in 1996 and 1997.
In 1998 she worked as a Pantene Hair Promotional Model in Marco Island, Florida for Joy Marks Photography and Elite Magazine. Known also as a savvy businesswoman, Dawnmarie established her own management company of Chanssonnier Entertainment & Management wherein she currently is involved in print work, acting, recording and public performance from a “Grissette” Lead Soprano in Puccini’s “La Boheme” in May 1998, presented by the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center and the Tampa Bay Opera Company, to a Special Guest Performer with Country Band “SteelHorse” during TNN’s Country Music Showdown in Ocala in August 1998. From there she landed work as a Special Guest Performer with Radio Station 101.5 Promotional Band, (Top 40/Classical) “Tropical Heat” with shows performed at The Tides Condominium Grand Opening; Avila Christmas Event; and the Hyatt Hotel, Downtown Tampa-New Years Eve 99 and in February 1999, she performed again with Country Band “SteelHorse” at the Silver Dollar Saloon in Tampa.
Known as a writer/composer and performer, Dawnmarie along with a friend/producer Dominik Pages of Crystal Blue Studios in Tampa, collaborated in the works of a few of her original songs ranging from Pop/Dance mix, contemporary listening and country. Her music writing opened a window of opportunity and she was invited to record in Nashville with AMI Records in August of 1999. She was featured on AMI’s label “Tamara Records” on their new Millennium Compilation CD of new artists released in 2000 presenting her debut of “All the Tea in China” which has already been performed live for audiences in Clearwater, New York, Nashville, Florida, Idaho, Washington, California and in Vancouver, B.C. Her recording career launched a special invitation with regulators of internet radio and she was sponsored into MP3.com in July of 2000, which promoted “Tea in China” for a three month period resulting in a nomination for best new country song and placing her in the spotlight of “Women of MP3.com” and ranking her 5th place out of 70,000 independent women artists. Thereafter, with the assistance of composer/music arranger & friend, Phil Traynor, Dawnmarie has released “Can’t Hide It” and “Take my Hand” .
Back to the stage - she performed in the lead role of “Ginger” in Spanish Lyric Theater’s Broadway performance of “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” in November 1999: and the role of “Catherine” in the Broadway show “PIPPIN” held at Ybor City’s Hillsborough Community College Theater in May 2000. Traveling abroad took her away from the stage and currently, Dawnmarie travels around the State of Florida with the Eddie Shannon Company and DeLeon Entertainment performing at the most upscale Weddings, Golf & Country Clubs; Veterans Facilities, Senior Nursing Homes, Independent Health Care Facilities and lounges. She is also a well known soloist in the area for Wedding Ceremonies and many other events.
From September 2001 to February 2002, Dawnmarie along with several other performing artists provided non-commissioned entertainment for the military. Performances consisted of music of the 30s, 40s, 50, Broadway tributes and current top 40.
No matter what stage she appears on, she has earned the appreciation of so many. Although she speaks English, her performances can be heard in French, Italian, German and Spanish which has made it easy for her to reach out to those in our country that do not speak our language giving her the opportunity to touch the hearts of many. With a heart of warmth and a love for her music, she truly loves to give out to those that hear her when she sings from the heart.
